General Guidelines We accept quality poetry and flash fiction (800 word maximum), as well as author's readings. We are now also accepting submissions of music and song. Submissions should be accompanied by a brief bio. Articles concerning literary criticism or theory will also be considered. Submissions should be e-mailed to:  Recordings MUST be in MP3 file format (we prefer MP3 files for their compression), and sent as an attachment. Because of the large volume of submissions, and the inherently large size of digital-file attachments, our subsequent email inbox size is huge. Accordingly, non-MP3 soundfile attachments such as WAV, or WMV, will be deleted on sight. For information on recording software and MP3 file conversion, see our links to recording software. The text of the submitted work should be placed in the body of the e-mail, with ‘Soundzine submissions’ in the subject line. We will not be opening document files sent as attachments, unless there is no other option to preserve special formatting. In that case, include a copy of your work as an attachment in RTF or DOC format. Please do not send more than 5 or 6 poems in a submission, and only one submission per reading period. Submissions must be accompanied by a real first and last name for attribution. We do not accept anonymous submissions, or submissions accompanied only by a username, screen-name, avatar, etc. Previously published work and simultaneous submissions are fine. However, please cite where the work was published, and contact us if your piece was accepted elsewhere during submission. This will not bar your work from getting published in Soundzine, but might prevent other zines getting cross at either of us. All copyrights revert to the author on publication. Works that are not accompanied by a sound file, and that are accepted for publication, will be read by a Soundzine in-house reader who will be assigned at our discretion. While the content of in-house readings remains exclusively the author's, the actual recording is the property of Soundzine, and may not be used without permission of Soundzine. We are also interested in publishing quality art and photography to compliment the theme of Soundzine. Please send submissions to the email address above. Work containing spelling errors, or poor-quality recordings, will not be considered. Soundzine does not currently pay for submissions. |
