Björn Vaughn

Bjorn was born in Spain to a British mother and American father, raised in Germany and has lived in many parts of the world from Europe, to the USA, to Australia and Asia. Today he lives in Brighton, England from where he translates, edits and photographs for a number of photography and design magazines - including Leica Fotografie International (LFI), Victor by Hasselblad, DESigner's Digest.

The picture "Magic Thread" was taken in Luang Namtha, northern Laos. It shows a lady from one of the surrounding hill tribes who comes to town to sell ethnic jewelery and little brown chunks of "psst, psst".  As a photographer, Bjorn likes to take his time with his subjects. "I like to arrive in a place with all my senses before I start snapping away. That can take anything from minutes to days. Sometimes, I might even be too distracted and it doesn't happen."
